Issue a key or fob

Sign a key or fob out to a resident, vendor, or staff member so the log shows who has it and when it is due back. You need a staff account with access to Key Log, and the key must already be in inventory with status Available.

  1. Open Operations → Key Log in the sidebar.
  2. Confirm the correct building is selected with the building filter (aria-label Filter by building).
  3. Select the Available tab.
  4. Find the key — use Search key, unit, person… if needed.

    Tip: If the key is not in the register yet, click New key, fill Key ID / label *, choose Type and Unit / area, then click Create key.

  5. Click Sign out on that row (or open the key and click Sign out under Ready to sign out).Available key row with Sign out button — Key Log list showing an Available key and the Sign out action
  6. Optionally search and select a resident under Resident (optional) to prefill the person fields.
  7. Enter Person taking key * (full name).
  8. Choose Person type (for example Resident, Vendor, or Staff).
  9. Enter Reason *, set Expected return (hours), and complete Signature if your building requires it (or check Save without signature when allowed).
  10. Click Sign out key.

Result: You see a success toast such as “Key [ID] signed out to [name]”, and the key moves to status Signed out on the Active tab.
